Full CV — my skills and shipped work, in depth.

This is the long-form version of my CV. It breaks down each of my technical skills in detail and ties them to real production systems. I've been building software professionally for 20+ years — from PHP and WordPress in the early 2000s to today's full-stack, e-commerce, mobile, and AI work — and everything below is backed by systems that run in production.

Back to CV overview

Summary

I'm a full-stack developer and software founder based in Mexico City. My core is PHP and JavaScript: on the backend I build custom web applications, APIs, and WordPress sites; on the front end I build responsive, accessible interfaces with Vue, React, Tailwind, and TypeScript. I've been doing this professionally for more than 20 years.

My PHP experience goes back to the early 2000s, long before Laravel. I built and customized WordPress sites across versions 3 through 6, and I still work with WordPress today — upgrading legacy sites from WordPress 5 to 7, cleaning and hardening neglected installs, and customizing themes and plugins. Over the last decade I've focused heavily on Laravel, which is where my largest systems live.

My web roots go back even further. Through the 2000s I built Flash and ActionScript websites, interactive CD-ROMs, and rich-media experiences with the Macromedia and Adobe tools of that era — right up until HTML5 replaced them. That background shaped the interactive, design-driven approach I still bring to front-end work today.

I build complete products, not isolated features. The clearest example is Zoe Water (zoewater.com.mx), a full e-commerce and operations platform I built from scratch: storefront, checkout, payments, inventory, warehouses, logistics, invoicing, CRM, and the REST API powering it all. I also founded Spatium, a SaaS platform with a companion Flutter mobile app published to the App Store and Google Play, and I run Byte City, a web studio where I scope, estimate, and lead delivery on client projects.

Technical skills, in depth

Backend & languages

Where most of my production systems live.

PHPAdvanced · since the early 2000s
My foundation. Two decades of PHP across custom applications, WordPress, and Laravel — from procedural code in the 2000s to modern, typed, well-structured PHP 8 today.
LaravelAdvanced
My primary framework for custom web apps, APIs, and SaaS. The backbone of Zoe Water and Spatium, including queues, events, jobs, policies, and Filament/Nova admin panels.
WordPress (PHP)Advanced
Theme and plugin customization, custom functionality, and PHP-level work across the WordPress core and ecosystem — both new builds and long-term maintenance.
Node.jsIntermediate · via Next.js
I use Node mainly through Next.js (SSR and API routes), plus webhooks, tooling, and automation. My standalone Express work is lighter than my PHP backend work, and I'm upfront about that.
CodeIgniter & other PHP frameworksTransferable
I work daily in Laravel, but CodeIgniter is classic PHP MVC built on the same fundamentals — I can be productive in it, or any PHP framework, very quickly.
PythonBasic
Scripting, automation, and AI experiments where it's the right tool for the job.

Frontend

Responsive, accessible, high-performance interfaces.

JavaScriptAdvanced
Strong, hands-on JavaScript in every project — modern ES, the DOM, fetch/REST, and framework work.
TypeScriptAdvanced
Used across frontend projects to keep interfaces safe, maintainable, and easy to scale.
Vue 3Expert
My primary SPA framework — Composition API, Pinia, reactive dashboards, and design systems built from scratch (the Zoe Water and Spatium UIs).
ReactAdvanced
Component-driven UIs from marketing sites to full products. This very site is built on React 19 and Next.js 16.
Next.jsIntermediate–Advanced
SSR, SSG, and content-driven, performance-focused frontends.
Tailwind CSSExpert
My core CSS workflow — complete design systems, responsive layouts, and production-ready UI built quickly and precisely.
HTML5 & CSS3Advanced
Semantic, accessible, responsive markup and modern CSS as the base of everything I build.

WordPress & CMS

From WordPress 3 in the 2000s to version 7 upgrades today.

Theme & plugin customizationBacked by PHP & WordPress
Not a standalone specialty for me, but my strong PHP foundation and years working with WordPress let me confidently read, customize, and extend themes and plugins, and layer custom functionality on top for client sites.
Version upgrades & maintenanceActive
Currently upgrading legacy sites from WordPress 5 to 7, cleaning and hardening compromised or neglected installs, and keeping sites healthy and secure.
WooCommerceBacked by custom e-commerce & WordPress
Not a day-to-day specialty on its own, but my from-scratch e-commerce work (catalog, cart, checkout, payments, and orders) and my WordPress background let me confidently build and customize WooCommerce stores — products, checkout, and store functionality.
Headless / decoupled WordPressCapable
I build decoupled architectures daily (Laravel APIs feeding Vue, Next.js, and Flutter clients); the same approach applies directly to a headless WordPress front end.
SEO & performanceAdvanced
Meta tags, structured data for product pages, caching, and performance tuning for content and commerce sites.

E-commerce

Built from scratch and proven in production on Zoe Water.

Storefront, cart & checkoutAdvanced
Product catalogs, carts, and a full checkout flow — including coupons, shipping, tax, and order management.
Payment gatewaysConekta · Mercado Pago
Card payments, webhooks, and reconciliation integrated end to end. My gateways have been Conekta and Mercado Pago; Stripe and PayPal follow the same tokenization and webhook patterns I already work with.
Inventory & warehousesAdvanced
Stock control, warehouses/deposits, and product inventory wired into the order and fulfillment flow.
Logistics & shippingAdvanced
3PL formats, last-mile tracking (Beetrack), waybills, and delivery scheduling — all built into Zoe Water's operations.
Commerce security & performanceAdvanced
Secure handling of payments and customer data, plus caching and query tuning to keep a busy store fast.

APIs, data & security

The plumbing that holds products together.

REST APIs & JSONAdvanced
Designing and consuming RESTful APIs — the Zoe Water and Spatium backends both expose APIs that power web and mobile clients.
Webhooks & third-party integrationsAdvanced
Payment gateways, shipping (Beetrack), CRM/marketing (ActiveCampaign), Shopify sync, and invoicing, connected through webhooks and APIs.
MySQLIntermediate–Advanced
Relational modeling, query optimization, indexing, and production maintenance — Zoe Water runs on MySQL.
PostgreSQLIntermediate–Advanced
Spatium's primary database — schema design, JSONB, and indexing.
Auth & secure codingAdvanced
Authentication and authorization with Passport, Sanctum, and Fortify; OAuth, roles and policies, and secure-coding practices throughout.

Mobile & cross-platform

Apps in the stores, connected to real backends.

FlutterHands-on · shipped
Spatium's mobile app is built in Flutter and published to the App Store and Google Play (real, versioned release builds), talking to a Laravel backend over REST with real-time updates.
App store deploymentiOS & Android
Building, signing, submitting, and releasing apps on both stores, including version and release management.
React NativeAdjacent
I build cross-platform mobile in Flutter rather than React Native, but I know React well and can move to React Native when a project calls for it.

AI & automation

AI built into products, and used to build them.

AI integrationHands-on
OpenAI models, agents, function/tool calling, streaming responses (SSE), and embeddings — built into Spatium for planning and search.
AI rapid application developmentDaily
I use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini) every day to design, build, and ship faster, and I advise clients on where AI genuinely adds value.

DevOps, testing & tooling

Shipping, testing, and keeping systems running.

GitAdvanced
Daily version control across every project (Git; comfortable with SVN concepts where needed).
Cloud & server administrationIntermediate–Advanced
Deployments to cloud servers (AWS / DigitalOcean) via Laravel Forge; Nginx, Cloudflare, SSH, and day-to-day production server administration.
TestingPHPUnit & Pest (extensive) · Vitest (some)
Strong PHP coverage with PHPUnit and Pest; end-to-end and browser tests with Behat and Laravel Dusk; some Vitest on the frontend. I write tests to prove changes work, not as an afterthought.
CI & release workflowsIntermediate
Automated builds, deployments, and mobile release workflows.

Web studio · WordPress & custom builds · since 2004

Byte City

My web studio, running since 2004. Here I design and build client websites — including WordPress sites with custom themes, plugins, and functionality — and handle ongoing maintenance, version upgrades, SEO, and performance. I scope, estimate, and lead delivery, often managing other developers.

  • WordPress client sites with custom themes, plugins, and functionality (e.g. lahormigaplay.com and refrigeracionner.com)
  • Legacy WordPress version upgrades — including refrigeracionner.com from 5.8 to 7.x — plus cleanup and hardening
  • Landing pages and marketing sites with an SEO and performance focus
  • Client-facing scoping, estimation, and team leadership

How I work

  • Production ownership

I'm comfortable stepping into existing systems, understanding them, and improving them with a high degree of independence — that's how I've run and evolved Zoe Water's platform for years.

  • Clear estimates & scoping

I estimate work realistically and push to get requirements clear before building rather than after. If a task isn't well defined, I'll say so and help define it.

  • Strategy & opportunities, including AI

I review projects and point clients toward the highest-value opportunities — increasingly around AI and automation — instead of just taking orders.

  • Leading developers

As a studio founder and CEO, I lead developers across multiple projects, keep delivery on track, and take part in code review.

  • Communication in plain language

I translate business needs into technical solutions and explain trade-offs clearly, in English and Spanish.
